Slow plant growth #874329

Asked June 23, 2024, 6:47 PM EDT

Hi I was wondering someone can comment little to no vegetable growth this year, in particular concerning eggplants and swiss chard. Both eggplants and swiss chard are planted in 1 year old raised beds. This is the second year planting in these raised beds. Both vegetables were planted last year and grew well. The eggplants were started from seedlings purchased from a nursery and the chard was self seeded from last year's crop. The eggplants were planted roughly mid-May, after Mother's day. Thanks you for your time

Expert Response

Hi Kasey,

These plants like good drainage and eggplants like heat, so the frequent heavy rains probably haven't helped these two crops.

Your eggplants are planted very close together. See the recommendations here:

Hopefully it will dry out and your plants will take off.

Thanks!
