New Grass #874321

Asked June 23, 2024, 5:40 PM EDT

Hi,,I have a question about new grass seed..I built a new house 2.5 hours north of the cities, and have new grass seed in various stages of growth..I have 2 areas that I planted last fall, that are doing good..My question is..when do I introduce any fertilizer, weed and feed etc..to these areas?..so. Far I have not done anything with these areas..I also have another area that is 6 weeks new, and another area that is 2 weeks new..the rain certainly helps for the seed to thrive..I have a couple more areas I will do this fall..what, if anything, should I do to these areas?..thank you!

It sounds as though your lawn seeding is going well.  You can apply fertilizer, including weed and feed mixtures, to the area planted last fall.  You'll need to wait longer for the newer area.  Attached is an article on how to care for newly-seeded lawns.  It gives recommendations as to when to apply additives.  I'm also attaching a lawn care calendar for Minnesota that's a helpful tool for taking good care of your new lawn.
