Unidentifiable weed #874290

Hello,
This weed (see pics) started off as one or two small weeds in our lawn, and now it has begun to take over! We use Trugreen lawn service and they are not able to identify this weed (nor does their lawn treatment do anything to discourage its continued growth). I don't see it in our neighbors' yards. I have looked online, tried to use my iphone recognition feature to identify it, and looked at all the weeds on your site but I can't find a match. Do you know what this is? And if you do, do you know how to get rid of it?
Thank you so much for your help!

It looks like a sucker from a tree that was cut down or from a larger tree growing nearby. The lawn chemicals don’t kill it because I am almost certain it is a woody herbaceous plant. I think if you dig it up you will find a tree that has been cut off many times and is now thick and growing like a shrub. A brush killer will kill it but also kill the grass. If there aren’t too many, digging it up would do the least amount of damage to the lawn.
