Insect eating my mint. #874283

Asked June 23, 2024, 12:37 PM EDT

I have a well established sweet mint planting. Last year and this year the leaves are chewed on, with no particular pests such as caterpillars evident. Today as I was pruning and harvesting the mint, I encountered several small beetle-Iike insects in the foliage. What are they, and are they likely to be the insects eating my mint?

Expert Response

I do not have the name of your lovely beetle but it is possible they have been snacking on your mint.  However, knowing how mint grows, I do not believe there is any danger to your plantings.
