Can you identify what insect in boring into my apple tree in El Paso, Tx. I just noticed it when bark came off. Any ideas on pest and cure would be welcome.

I am in NY so Texas insects are a stretch for me. If the area has experienced drought recently, you might have a tree borer. You will need to check with your local extension office who would be more familiar with pests in your local area. The borer we have in NY does not get to Texas.
