Cherry Tree in Trouble #874211

Asked June 22, 2024, 4:49 PM EDT

Hi,

My cherry tree in the back yard is in trouble.  It seemed that last year it didn't have as many leaves as it should but still produced.  This year had some cherries but was looking in bad shape and now whatever leaves were left have dried up.

I tried spraying but had no effect.  The tree is congested a bit, with an apple tree less that 10' away.  It get enough water since I water the garden nearby.  No noticeable sap oozing out, and I don't see any obvious infestations. Any ideas? Can it be saved?

This tree looks like it is dead. I do not have enough information to give you a cause of death. The dead leaves and discoloration on the bark makes me wonder if had bacterial canker. This could also be a water relations issue if an animal ate the roots.
