Roses not thriving #874153

Asked June 22, 2024, 9:36 AM EDT

Hello, this year my roses are not thriving and I'm not sure why. It appears something might be eating the leaves of the bushes. The rosebuds have brown spots, and some are even curling up and dying before they open. Could someone look at the pictures and offer some suggestions on what I can do? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Expert Response

Good morning!

Thank you for reaching out. Sometimes browning flowers and petals can be from water or heat stress. How much are they getting watered? How long have you been noticing the browning on the flowers? Have you seen any signs of insects on your plants? It is not quite Japanese Beetle season but they are huge pests of roses.

Thanks so much!
Rachel
