APPLE TREE ISSUE #874064

Asked June 21, 2024, 12:11 PM EDT

I AM VERY WORRIED ABOUT MY APPLE TREE. IT BLOSSOMED WITH BEAUTIFUL WHITE BLOOMS IN APRIL AND THE LEAVES LOOKED HEALTHY. THEN THE LEAVES STARTED TO FALL OFF THE TREE AND CONTINUE TO DROP EVERY DAY. I'M SENDING A PICTURE OF ONE OF THE LEAVES AND I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU COULD LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS A SIGN OF DISEASE. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

Expert Response

Check your leaves against the diseases listed on this web page. Chances are that you have apple scab which is very prevalent this spring because of our excessive rain. If so, your tree won't die, just look tough this year. Rake up the dead leaves and get them away from the tree to prevent infection next year. You may send some to the Plant Disease Clinic if you want a positive diagnosis.
