grass is greener #873871

Asked June 19, 2024, 11:40 PM EDT

I am curious if you might have and answer to my question. We have a bird feeder that hangs under the eaves of our house. The grass under that feed is deep green and looks very lush compared to the grass in the rest of our laws. We have not anything special to this small area that was not added to the rest of the lawn. Thank you for your time Peace, Tom Walker

Thank you for your question, Tom.  I suspect that the birds visiting the feeder drop excrement on the grass.  Solid animal waste is high in nitrogen, which promotes foliage.  (Worm "castings" do the same thing.)  Cheap fertilizer, huh?
