What is this plant? #873852

Asked June 19, 2024, 8:15 PM EDT

It's on a neighbor's lawn border as a ground cover. The iPhone identified it as "stinking cedar" but I have a hard time believing that. Whatever it is, I think I'd like to plant it. Can you help identify it?

Expert Response

Hi,

It looks like a Prostrate Japanese Plum Yew or Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'prostrata' . You can compare photos on the NC State Extension website with the plant in person to see if you can identify more characteristics.

If you don't think it is that, you can try sending us some more photos of the underside of the needles and more zoomed out of the entire plant.

Thanks Emily! That’s great!
