Yellow aster #873846

Asked June 19, 2024, 7:20 PM EDT

I suffered with yellow aster for 2 summers. I pulled and buried every perennial plant in my garden, echinacea, daisies, brown eyed Susan's and creeping thyme. This year a couple of echinacea have come up and bee balm. Please see pictures. I think they are okay but not sure if it is too early. Thoughts?

Expert Response

So far they look good.  Watch out for the leaf hopper that spreads aster yellows.

If you go to extension.umn.edu and search for aster yellows, the articles will give you ways to cut down on leaf hoppers.

I hope this helps.
