Speedwell weed #873834

Asked June 19, 2024, 6:13 PM EDT

I have quite a few patches of these weeds. They seem appear to get thicker and then kill off or push out the grass in areas.

Hello Kevin,
Corn speedwell (Veronica arvensis), also known as common speedwell, is a non-native, invasive weed that grows throughout Michigan and the United States. It is considered a winter annual which means that the original plant dies and drops its seeds in the soil. The seeds are dormant until weather conditions are conducive for the seeds to germinate, usually in the spring or summer.

The following link to an article from Penn State University will give you valuable information about the plant and how to manage it in your lawn.
