Hydrangea Issue??? #873812

Asked June 19, 2024, 3:52 PM EDT

I am sending you two pictures of my hydrangeas. I have five in a row and they all have these yellowing leaves. Can you identify the problem and tell me a solution?

Charlevoix County Michigan

Expert Response

Good morning Mary,

When the leaves start turning yellow but still have prominent green veins, this indicates an iron deficiency. This most commonly happens in alkaline or heavy clay soils. The 2nd link is the link from the 1st link that explains chlorosis & how to treat it.

I’d also recommend getting your soil tested to see where there may be nutritional deficiencies. You can request a home test here:

Good luck & have a great day!
