Rose bush issues #873696

Asked June 18, 2024, 6:46 PM EDT

Hello! I’m unsure why my rose bush ends up like this! The first week of bloom, everything looks great, immediately after, the leaves look like this and all parts of the bush looses its roses. (This is also occurring with new growth away from the bush.)

Expert Response

From the photos it looks like you may have rose chafers. You should be looking for the adults for a certain diagnosis.

Below are a couple of articles on how to manage them. You apparently have a large infestation. They are most prominent in areas with sandy soil.

If you choose to use a pesticide, be sure to identify the pest first. Follow all label instructions and wear protective clothing. Avoid spraying when bees are out.
