Pumpkin Insecticides for Aerial Application #873655

Asked June 18, 2024, 3:59 PM EDT

I am looking for a Non-Commercial and or a RUP insecticide that I can use to apply to a 10 acre pumpkin field via aerial application. Ideally this could be mixed with a fungicide, but if it does need to be separated, I would manage through that. Currently my Client uses EIGHT by Bodine (a permethrin based insecticide), but that product is not EPA approved for Aerial Application, so we are looking for a substitute.

Expert Response

Hi,
I wasn't sure which chemicals would be approved for aerial application so I reached out to some of the other extension educators.  Our pumpkin specialist didn't know of any right off hand.  An educator that specializes in drone application doesn't know of a list either and is in the process of working on one.  He suggested to look at chemicals that work on the pest you are wanting to control and see if it is labeled for aerial application.  I'm sorry that we couldn't give you an exact answer.  The Ohio Department of Agriculture might also be able to help you:<personal data hidden>
