Yellow/Goldest mold #873648

Asked June 18, 2024, 3:43 PM EDT

I planted some new hydrangeas this spring and used for the first time coco bean mulch on top of the soil. It recently has turned color in some, not all area in the area. The color is a yellowish gold. Is something wrong?

It’s kinda disappeared with all the rain we’ve had.

This looks most like a rust fungi.  It probably will go away when the mulch dries out.  Some rust fungi can infect plants.  The following website shows what to look for.
