I was told by a local nursery that a plant I had purchased from them had Verticillium and they gave me a long list of plants that I couldn't plant in the same spot that has the virus. Can you advise me as to what I can do to kill the virus? Also, I would like to have a list of plants that would be resistant to the virus. Ca the soil be tested for the Verticillium?
Thank you, Jessica

See here for a full list of resistant and susceptible plants to verticillium wilt: https://depts.washington.edu/hortlib/resources/ucdavis_verticillium.pdf
You are correct that once this fungus is in the soil it can reinfect susceptible plants. There is no soil test for the presence of verticilium wilt. Branches that are suspected to have wilt can be sent into MSU for testing (for a fee) by following the instructions here: https://www.canr.msu.edu/pestid/submit-samples/#Trees%20with%20Suspected%20Vascular%20Wilt
