Where can I find native plants locally? #873596

Asked June 18, 2024, 11:45 AM EDT

Good morning, and thank you for your resources, such as the "Native Plants for Wildlife Habitat and Conservation Landscaping" pdf, that have been helpful in identifying native species of plants.

I need your help finding nurseries or other retail or other organizations from whom I can buy or acquire native plants. When I visit local nurseries (Potomac Nursery in Darnestown, for example), they have a "native plant" section, but not necessarily the particular species or cultivars of plants you list in your resources for our area.

For a homeowner hoping to expand the garden with plants native to Montgomery County, where can I turn for plants that a reliably native?

Thank you for your time and resources!

Take care.

The Maryland Native Plant Society has a listing that should help:

There are traditional nurseries but also good online sources (don't forget about plugs, which are small plantsa).
You can also check out the native plants that happen periodically around the state.
Your local Montgomery County Master Gardener group may have a newsletter, webpage or other info they could share with you as well:
