tiger eye sumac pruning #873552

Can I remove some lower branches from a tiger eye sumac without killing the tree? If so, when is the right time of year to do this?

If you send me a picture of the plant and describe your pruning goals (shrub, tree, vase), I may be suggest ways to prune. 
Note, this plant should not be crowded against a house.  That will restrict normal growth and healthy air circulation.
