In recent weeks a number of branches and ends of branches have withered and turned black on my pear tree. Can you tell me what's going on and how I can address it? Thanks!

What I wrote above is really all I know. Several weeks ago, some branch tips started withering and then turning black. Since then, entire branches have had the same thing happen. Hopefully the pictures give you what you need to give me a sense of what's going on.
There are a couple of other possibilities, but it looks like pretty classic fire blight. Let me know if you have any questions or comments after reading these articles:
