Stressed &/or sick Japanese Maples #873474

We recently planted some J maples. One of them (“Bihou”) is almost dead - see first two pics with dry leaves and dark bands on limbs. The other one (“Full Moon”) is showing signs of stress in leaves. Thanks for any info.

Sudden death or wilting in maples is most often caused by verticillium wilt, a disease which plugs the xylem tissues that carry water through the plant. Check out this article:
