In ground nests for yellow jackets. #873447

Asked June 17, 2024, 1:27 PM EDT

Hello, I have a question about yellow jackets in ground. In the articles https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/controlling_wasps_in_yards_and_structures https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/getting_rid_of_wasps_nests I guess, you, guys, mention carbaryl which is not available anymore for consumers use. So what do we use in ground? Here is what is suggested by the producers to use.https://www.homedepot.com/p/Spectracide-16-oz-Aerosol-Carpenter-Bee-and-Ground-Nesting-Yellow-jacket-Killer-Foam-HG-53371/203012118 Any comments? Chemical manufacturers do sometimes change formulations in household products, retire particular active ingredients from residential use, or change the availability of where they can be purchased.

Both of the active ingredients in the product you linked are pyrethroids, which kill insects on contact. I'm not familiar with the foam efficacy. If you do not achieve the desired result, I would suggest searching for another type of insecticidal dust.
