Expert Response

Hello,

That is a longhorn beetle in the tribe Lepturini, most likely the red shouldered pine borer (S. canadensis). Longhorn beetles are typically harmless, feeding on decaying wood as larvae. The adults are frequently found on flowers, feeding on pollen and nectar. Sometimes they eat the flower petals, in which case they can be controlled by handpicking. I would leave them be. But if they become a problem, insecticides are not recommended.
