Hi, I am looking for info to register my pair of 250 yr. Old sugar maples as historic trimming is imminent by utilities and they have already lopsided these wonders please help I dont want them touched again

Hi Sam,
Below is the link to more information, including how to register, a big tree in Michigan; this is what you might call the historic registry of trees in Michigan. 
Unfortunately, I'm not sure this will protect the tree from being trimmed by utilities. For that, I would recommend calling the utility company in question and requesting a consultation with their line forester. Perhaps there is a compromise that could be reached. You may call the number on your bill to reach the line forester, or their supervisor. Grace and kindness will go a long way. 
You may also talk to the township or county historic societies to find out if they know of any programs that might offer protection for the tree?
