Hello. I live in Saint Paul. I have Jerusalem Artichokes between the west side of my house and the alley. I pulled some up today to thin it out and the bulbs were rotted and slimy. I will include some pictures of abnormal roots and bulbs. Please advise. Thank you

Have you grown them here before with success?
First I would look for any insects that may be eating them. If they are, secondary infections would cause the bulbs to soften and rot.
If they are planted in a small area between your house and the alley, they could just be suffering from too much water with all of the rain we have been having. Does this area drain well? They could be waterlogged.

Hello,
They have grown here in the past with more success. You make a good point about the rain. I think that could be contributing. I will also look for any insects that might be present.
Thank you for your feedback.
