Hydrangea light green and sickly looking after applying cypress mulch #873132

Asked June 14, 2024, 3:00 PM EDT

Hello! My hydrangea are well established and after putting cypress mulch on one section, they are looking very sad, with light green and yellow speckled leaves instead of the usual deep green. The hydrangea that did not receive the mulch in the same line looks excellent. I recently added osmocote fertilizer and would like to know if there is anything I can do to increase the health of the hydrangea at this stage? I love them dearly and would do any series of steps recommended. I am happy to provide more photos, but they are not accepted within the size requirements of this message. Thank you!
