is this Boxwood Blight? #873076

Asked June 14, 2024, 9:31 AM EDT

Attached are pictures of two small, two year old boxwood plants with what we suspect is Boxwood Blight. Can you confirm? If necessary, we can bring a sample of the effected leaves in to your facility.

Expert Response

Hello Joyce,

Thank you for your question and for supplying the photos.  There are a few things affecting boxwoods that can resemble boxwood blight, so yes, please bring in sample to our office (address below) any day M-F, 8:30 to 4:30, for diagnosis.  A few clipped branches showing symptoms placed in a plastic bag and sealed (a ziploc type bag works well). Go to  2nd floor Info Center.  You will fill out a form for more information and we will take a look at it when we can.  If we suspect Boxwood Blight, we will need to send another sample to the Cornell Pathology lab for confirmation.  That involves a fee.

Let me know if you have any questions on gathering a sample.
