I am wondering what this plant is that is growing in a pot I have.

Larimer County Colorado

Expert Response

Hello,

Are those thorns along the stems? Would you say this is herbaceous or woody where it's emerging from the pot?

Hello,

Yes, there are thorns all along the stems. I'm not sure about your question on if it is herbaceous or woody in the pot - I have only had perineal flowers, a bee friendly mix in the pot. The pot is set in a rock bed next to my house. I have no other plants that look like this anywhere on my property or on my neighbors properties.

My best guess is that it's a type of wild rose. How or why it's growing in your container...I have no idea!

See if it flowers and then you can confirm that it's a rose (or not). You're welcome to email me directly if it develops buds or flowers: <personal data hidden>
