what is this plant? #873063

Asked June 14, 2024, 1:31 AM EDT

I have two plants growing in good, black dirt over my septic tank that was just redone about four years ago. I didn't pull these plants, because I thought I had planted them. But they aren't doing what I thought, they are taller than I want (about 5 feet), and I'm not sure if they are what I planted, or really volunteers. Please help me identify them, and if I should keep them.

Hi Beverly,

Wow, that looks a lot like an elderberry.

Birds will be very attracted to it and you will get a lot of entertainment out of it. Elderberries are extremely good for you and taste wonderful after you cook them. They are commonly consumed in European countries.

Enjoy the nice surprise,
