What’s wrong with my bay leaf tree? #873014

Asked June 13, 2024, 4:52 PM EDT

We bought a bay leaf tree from fast growing trees.com and planted it about a month ago. It’s not thriving. Some leaves and spotted and brown and have rounded tips instead of pointed. There’s some white threads on some leaves. Is it a fungus? What can I do for it?

Expert Response

Hi,

We can't  identify the problem in the photos exactly, but it doesn't look serious and might just be abiotic or an environmental stress.

The threads are just spider webbing. No need for concern.

Is it planted in the ground, or in a pot? If in the ground, it will not be reliably winter-hardy in Maryland and may need to come inside around October.
