maple tree seeds (helicopters) #872939

We mioved to MN 3 yrs ago and every spring have had so many helicopters, pinwheels or whatever you call Maple seeds fall in our yard. This year we have seen very few. Are they still going to fall or can I spread the mulch I have throughout the garden. I have been waiting for them to fall. Has this just been an extremely light year or should I wait a few more weeks?

Many plants have alternating light and heavy years of seed production. From the dates on the following articles, I think that the seeds should be done falling by now.
