Will my onion bulbs keep growing without leaves? Nothing but a brown stub sticking out of the ground for most … what leaves remain have fallen over flat

It sounds like the bulb has rotted. The only way to find out is to dig them up. If they are firm, replant. If mushy, throw the away.
