Help available for front yard advice? #872880

Asked June 12, 2024, 8:42 PM EDT

MANY years ago (2011) a Master Gardener named Linda Eggiman helped me with my front yard. She had come to speak to a women's group at my church and offered her services to look at anyone's garden and give advice. I took her up on it and purchased plants that she recommended after she visited me. Is this service available at this time? For someone to come to my yard and take a look? To give me suggestions on what to do and what to plant? I'm enclosing three photos. One is of my main front yard area. One is of some plants that I cut to ground level because they were taking over! (Thinking of rototilling these roots??) Another is of some plants I enjoy but they have grown too large. Anyway, I would appreciate any information if there is someone that could advise me. I do not want to take advantage of anyone and would like to know of any fees, etc. I live in Southeast Portland

Expert Response

Thank you for your question, Colleen.  Unfortunately, Master Gardeners are now not permitted to make "home visits".  Perhaps you could engage the services of a landscape architect or designer to provide some ideas.   Perhaps the ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) Oregon group would have some suggestions for trained personnel in this area:  https://www.aslaoregon.org/

Or, a nursery or garden store near you might have references whose judgment they trust.  Sorry we can't help; good luck!
