YOUR QUESTION #0142768:
Maple Tree help
My Maple tree is consistently breaking off large limbs (even in slight breezes) and has many “window makers” hung up in the tree. Growing right next to its oddly bent trunk grows a beautiful “not human planted”Golden Chain tree. The leaves on both trees look green & healthy. Is there someone who could come look at them?Ask Extension offers one-to-one expert answers from Cooperative Extension/University staff and volunteers within participating Land-Grant institutions across the United States.

I am not sure why you are losing branches without seeing the damage up close, you can bring a branch to our plant clinic. It is not a common practice to do site visits as we have very limited staff. We usually try to assist by having you take photos and send or by bringing us a branch sample that has symptoms to our plant clinic in Redmond. A transitional branch ( Some living and some damage) works best and photos of the trunk, the ground around the tree and any other symptoms you are seeing. If this is not an option for you, then I would recommend you contact an ISA Certified Arborist to come out and do a site visit. You can look them up here: https://pnwisa.org/
The current photo is too far away for me to tell anything, you could submit additional photos and I will take a look.
Thanks
I actually live in Salem, Oregon (prior address was in Redmond, OR). I am concerned that the Maple tree will damage the Golden Chain tree growing alongside the Maple tree. Thank you for any advice you can give me.
They too will probably want a sample of the tree to Identify it so they can further assist.
The factors, disease, insect, etc that can cause plant damage west of the Cascades can be different than what we see here in the high desert.
Thanks
