Hi, I set up an elevated garden bed for my granddaughter who will be 1 in mid-July.  I didn't think of the radon gas fan blowing out near the bed.  It is about 4-5 feet from the elevated bed.  Is there any health risk to my granddaughter from the radon gas?  See photo. Â

Hello Paula, Thank you for your question regarding radon. Radon is certainly something to be concerned about indoors. However, outdoors, radon is diluted sufficiently that there are few health concerns. Based on your e-mail, I assume you have radon mitigation, but the photo you have does not show a radon discharge pipe. Such discharge pipes, by regulation, must be at roof level. If your radon mitigation is installed properly and is at roof level, there is little concern regarding radon while working in the garden. Attached is a link to Colorado information on radon which also includes information and photos of radon discharge pipes. I hope this helps, but contact us again if you need additional information.  https://www.epa.gov/radon/building-new-home-have-you-considered-radon
Hi, thank you for answering. Â
It is just a precautionary fan. No mitigation. Â
I had my radon levels tested about 6 months ago with the State of COâs program, and the radon was extremely low. Â
The organic bin is about 4-5 feet from the fan outlet. Â
Thanks so much,Â
Paula
