I have 2 Fall Fiesta Maple Trees that both have leaves at the end of the branches with leaf veins ballooned & leaf is wilted. I also have Silver Maples, Autumn Blaze Maples & Crimson King Maples; none of these have the leaf deformity. What is wrong with my Maples & can they survive this? Thank you.

Two forestry professors from the U of Mn have looked at this, and agree we've never seen anything like this. This is our best response -
I have not seen anything quite like this on maple before. It reminds me a bit of something like peach leaf curl caused by Taphrina spp. Maybe some sort of foliar fungal pathogen that is thriving in the wet spring? My other thought would be off target herbicide damage.
Hopefully your maples will s survive this. Remove the most distorted foliage and see what happens!
