Struggling hack berries #872654

Asked June 11, 2024, 3:53 PM EDT

I have two hackberry trees in my yard that did not do well last year, they seem to be infested with every type and color of aphid as well as another insect I can't remember the name of, sorry, anyway is there anything I can do to help them get through another stressful year? Last year they seem to have lost almost all their leaves by the end of the summer.

Expert Response

You have a common hackberry tree. The other insect you have is a hackberry nibble gall maker. If you go to the website (Lancaster.I’ll.edu) and go to the search box at top right and type in hackberry gall psyllids it will tell you how to control them. It would also be good to have an arborist come out and look at your tree, are tree specialists. Thanks for your question.
