Hello
This could be morning glory. Please get a couple more pictures-
A 2-3 foot section of vine laid out straight with 5-7 leaves attached so we can see how they are arranged.
A flower section, again laid on a plain flat background so the flowers are in focus.
Also please dig up a root and photo it or describe- is it many small fibrous roots or one big rhizome or tap root?
Thank you, I will watch for your reply.

Thanks so much for your help and interest. There are no flowers on this vine.
As you can see, there are some old vines as well. Mixed in on this wall are also some clematis in English Ivy, which we are trying to save.
I could not dig up a route without it breaking. This makes me think it's a deep taproot?
We don't recall ever planting morning, glories here. But there are probably some wild varieties? Again, no flowers.
Thanks again for your help and insight.

Hello, I can help with the ID. In the meantime, the best treatment for vines is to cut the vine at the bottom near the soil line and treat the stump directly with the brush killer. This ensures the herbicide goes directly down into the root system and kills the plant. This way it won't shoot up any new growth. Also by treating specific fresh-cut stumps, you won't hurt the ivy.
When the above-ground vines die you can pull them off. I will do some research to figure out exactly what you have.

Any certain brush killer recommendation?

Something with the active ingredient triclopyr or glyphosate.
This looks like Dutchmans pipe to me. I can't figure out why you wouldn't see any flowers. Maybe you could so a google search and compare it to your vine and see if you think it is a match.
