I'm having a problem of birds, mostly Finches and Sparrows landing and perching on my deck. From first light they are out there insistently chirping and pooping all over the place. I bought some bird spikes and installed them, which has seemed to help a little, but from first light until dark they are out there chirping and pooping and it's driving ne crazy .... please advise

Rather than bird spikes, I would recommend other deterrents, such as wind chimes (or other similar yard 'art' that provides this purposes), statues, or reflective yard art. Having a pet in the area will keep birds away too. House sparrows do not land in my yard when my two dogs are present. I have heard of ultrasonic machines or chimes that may work as well. Statues of hawks or owls may work... But likely the songbirds catch on to this and you'd have to, an minimum, move the statue around.
