Bugs are eating my tomatillos #872534

Asked June 10, 2024, 11:09 PM EDT

These beetles have been eating my tomatillos and laying yellow eggs all over them. I can't seem to keep them off my basil and tomatillos

Expert Response

The insect in the photo is a fourlined plant bug. The oblong eggs are the initial stage and when hatched the nymphs are reddish color. Typically damage caused by this insect will not cause our plant/s to decline. The least invasive management is to monitor and squash the bugs and remove the eggs. Insecticidal soap is also an option if volumes are high. Below is a link to additional information about fourlined plant bugs.
