Caterpillar Identification #872442

Client found caterpillar on the bittersweet vine she brough in and would like the caterpillar identifed and any control recommendations.

I'm unable to identify what type of caterpillar it is from the photo. It does not resemble a swallowtail or caterpillar that will develop into a large and pretty butterfly. I'd suggest removing out of caution and monitoring the plant. Plants can handle some defoliation and seeing a few caterpillars does not mean the plant will die.

If the client sees many of them on the plants, she could hand-pick or use a pyrethroid, or BT.
