Mystery groundcover #872360

Asked June 10, 2024, 9:15 AM EDT

Hello-

I have had this groundcover show up in my garden. It was not planted and I believe it hitched a ride with some other perennial I planted in this location. Can you please tell me what it is? It has recently gone to seed, but prior to that it had white flowers about 1/2" in diameter.

Thank you.

Expert Response

Hello Erik,

Thanks for reaching out to Ask Extension with your plant ID question!

It appears from your photos that you have a groundcover called Pussytoes. There are several different species of this plant. I think it's likely that the one you have is Antennaria parvifolia, which is a nice native groundcover.

Here is information (and pictures) of some of the Antennarias:

I hope this helps!
