I have recently applied Halts to my lawn, which has numerous small spots (e.g,, about 6" diameter each). Since seeding is not recommended after using Halts, should I use sod in each spot instead?

Chris:
Thanks for reaching out to eXtension with your question. I asked someone in our office who has done work with lawns and golf courses. Here was his response to your question:
The bare areas will not fill in unless the soil is disrupted. This done by roughing up the soil in those areas, breaking up the chemical barrier of the Halts so that the new seed can germinate. It will come in thin because not all of the Halts will be removed. The areas will fill in better in the fall when the Halts wear off completely.
