Rhubarb - Yellowing Leaves #872323

Asked June 09, 2024, 7:17 PM EDT

Hello.Mastwr Gardeners, I planted this rhubarb about a month ago. It was great until last week when it developed yellow spots on the leaves that turn to brown and are spreading across the plant. Any idea on how to save it?

Hennepin County Minnesota

Expert Response

This has been a wet year and in a poorly-drained site, fungi can invade the plant.  Remove all brown/yellow leaves and see if the plant revives.  If it continues, move your rhubarb to another location and make sure it isn't overwatered.  Then remove and destroy all leaves after the first hard frost in the fall.
