Black swallow wort #872302

Asked June 09, 2024, 3:14 PM EDT

Hi, I pulled a ton of black swallow wort out of my front yard, as it was smothering other plants. I poked around online but it looks like it’s mostly discussed as an invasive plant in other states, making me wonder if there was yet much of an alarm about the plant in Colorado. Just thought I’d ask some experts here what the status is of the plant is in CO and also report it. Thanks!

Expert Response

It is not listed on the list of Colorado Noxious Weeds. Cynanchum louiseae, a member of the milkweed family, is reported to be found in Maine to Minnesota, Nebraska and California.

I'll attach a copy of the Colorado Department of Agriculture Noxious Weed list.
