I do not have a list of products to use by brand name but you need to completely kill the plant.  Even small pieces of root will sprout new plants.  There also may be new plants coming up for a year or more from seeds.  Check the label on herbicides for the actual listing of Canadian Thistle.  An employee in a full service locally owned garden center is probably your best help.  Here is a link for information on your thistle: https://extension.umn.edu/identify-invasive-species/canada-thistle
