What does my plant need? #872250

Asked June 09, 2024, 8:45 AM EDT

These plants were given to me in a rooter glass jar. They've been sitting in my window for a few months and I recently transplanted them into pots. They are turning yellow and dieing. What do they need? They're placed in a sunny room, near a window.

Expert Response

It looks like over watering.  But they may be stressed from the transplanting.  It could take a couple of weeks to come out of transplant shock.  In the meantime, try not to overwater.  Make sure the soil feels like a squeezed out sponge before watering again.

Something else to think about - what did the root system look like when you transplanted them?  If it was a small, weak root system, it might be in pot that is too big so the soil doesn't have a chance to dry out and roots can't adjust.  If this is the case, you may want to transplant to a smaller pot.
