Blueberry Disease? #872238

Asked June 08, 2024, 10:30 PM EDT

Hi there, My blueberries recently began showing some leaf spots that are concerning. Fruit production appears to be normal so far. I removed diseased canes from one bush, but one bush seems to have all canes impacted. Can you left me know what this might be and how to treat?

There might be several reasons for what you are seeing. The images are showing necrotic spotting and blotches between the veins of older leaves. There is less spotting on the newest leaves. I suspect you might be dealing with a nutrient deficiency of some sort. Do you know the pH of the soil? Blueberries like a very acidic soil and do not thrive above 5.5. Have a look here for some information on this issue: https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/blueberry-vaccinium-corymbosum-incorrect-soil-ph
I do not think you are dealing with any fungal or bacterial disease due to the regular pattern in the images. There is virus called shock virus that can cause similar symptoms many years after the plants have been infected. There is a small possibility that they recovered long ago but are showing some of the symptoms now. https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/blueberry-vaccinium-corymbosum-shock
I can not rule out something like excessive salt damage or something else that might be accumulating in the leaves. But it is just a low chance.
