Thanks for the question. Unfortunately when I enlarged the picture to examine the leaf detail, some resolution was lost. Consequently I do not have complete confidence in my ID. My best guess is this plant is Corn Speedwell (Veronica arvensis). You are correct in your observation that it can spread. In Minnesota it is annual and can spread either by seeds or root fragments. Removal could be done by hand pulling or by application of a post-emergent herbicide. Check any herbicide label to be sure that is effective against speedwell. Here is some more information about it:
