phone apps to identify plants #872160

Asked June 08, 2024, 9:26 AM EDT

I have tried various Android phone apps to identify plants and have found that most of them are not very reliable. However recently I have found Pl@ntnet to be quite reliable. Do you have phone apps that you recommend or have found reliable? https://plantnet.org/en/

Good afternoon, I have used Seek, by iNaturalist and it is usually pretty good.  Unfortunately, I have yet to find an app that is %100 accurate, but with cross referencing, you can get pretty close.  Thanks for your question.

Jennifer, Thanks for suggesting Seek --I tried it this afternoon. So far it is having problems identifying plants  that Plantnet did identify.

As I said, it is not perfect, but has done fairly well for me.  There may be some paid apps that are better, but I have not tried any of them. Thanks for your question.

I've tinkered with several.  I don't solely rely on Seek. I also use the "look up" feature on my iPhone which can help to ID plants and bugs. I always cross reference on various websites to confirm IDs as well.
